Long-time Leduc resident, business man, and volunteer, Murray Hales, is appointed as the new City of Leduc representative to serve on the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority Board of Directors, commencing Jan. 1, 2015.
"On behalf of city council, we’re very pleased to announce Mr. Hales’ new appointment," says Leduc Mayor Greg Krischke. "We’re very confident that with his experience, expertise and leadership, he will be a valuable member of the board and a strong representative for our city."
Hales is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Alberta. In 2012, he retired as a partner with MNP LLP and as risk partner of BNP Brisk (Balanced Risk Initiative) where his practice concentrated on audit of municipalities, school divisions, First Nations and related entities. Hales has been actively involved in the Leduc community for more than 30 years and is a past director and president of the Leduc Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Alberta Chambers of Commerce. He also served as a board member and treasurer of the Leduc Business Revitalization Zone and was a founding member of the Leduc Performing Arts Foundation. Hales is a current member and director of the Leduc Lions Club, and is also president of the Leduc Curling Club.
Edmonton Airports is an independent, not-for-profit corporation governed by a 13-member board and charged with managing airports in the Edmonton region, including the Edmonton International Airport (EIA) and Villeneuve Airport, in a commercially-focused manner.
