Emergency Response Team Safely Arrests One Male

(December 9, 2014)
On the morning of Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 Leduc RCMP were conducting an investigation on the north end of Songhurst Wynd. While doing so an individual who was the subject of the investigation, began exhibiting concerning behavior and locked himself in his residence. Officers conducted a risk assessment and determined there was an elevated risk to public and police safety. Leduc RCMP requested the attendance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT).
The Emergency Response Team attended, and worked to resolve the situation. Shortly after 3:00 PM, the Emergency Response Team arrested a male who peacefully came out and surrendered. The male was transported to Leduc Detachment.
"We are thankful that everyone involved is safe and unhurt." Notes Cst. Julian Celms of the Leduc RCMP. "We recognize the residents in the immediate area had to adjust their plans for the day. We thank them for their patience."
Requesting the Emergency Response Team is standard operating procedure in events where an elevated concern for police and public safety exists. Their specialized skills provided an increased layer of safety, which in this case ultimately led to a peaceful and safe arrest.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
