Representatives within the County of Leduc made a difference for Team Alberta in the 2013 Summer Games held in Sherbrook, Quebec from August 2 to 17, 2013.
Tanya Nelson, 16, from Leduc County along with Edmonton's Jerrica Gu, 19, succeed with a Gold Medal in Team Foil Fencing.
Fifteen year old Will Sacuta from Devon, earned a bronze in the Fencing Sabre individual male category.
Leduc’s 16 year old Kennedy Pasay, took home a total of 5 medals in para swimming, 2gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Among all of the athletes in Leduc County there was also swim coach, Richard Millns from Beaumont who coached 19 year old Joe Byram.�Byram, from Drayton Valley,�was successful with one Gold and two Silver Medals. �
Team Alberta had great success bringing home 34 gold, 42 silver and 42 bronze totalling 118 medals.
Alberta placed 4th overall in the Medal standings with Ontario at 213, Quebec at 172 and British Columbia with 122.
The next Canada Games will be the winter edition held in Prince George, British Columbia from February 13 to March 1, 2015.
