FORT SASKATCHEWAN, AB – (June 24, 2013) – In response to the flood recovery efforts in the Province of Alberta, Dow Chemical Canada ULC and Dow AgroSciences Canada Inc announced today that they will be donating $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross – Alberta Floods Relief for use in support of recovery efforts in Alberta’s devastated communities.
“Dow has been operating in the province of Alberta for more than 50 years,” said Jack Broodo, President, Dow Chemical Canada ULC. “This contribution to the Canadian Red Cross is our way of showing our support to all Albertans including our employees, partners, and customers who have been impacted by this disaster.”
Approximately 80 employees from Dow Chemical Canada ULC and Dow AgroSciences work in the corporate head office located in downtown Calgary. Some employees were evacuated from their homes and others have been without electricity and water since early Friday morning.
“Dow is proud to stand together with our neighbours here in Calgary and across the province who are enduring the painstaking process of resuming their lives and beginning the process of rebuilding,” said Bo Miller, Dow's global director of corporate citizenship and president of The Dow Chemical Company Foundation. “Recovery efforts are expected to be long-term and we will continue to find ways to leverage our existing community success programs to contribute in meaningful ways.”
