by The Devon & District Chamber of Commerce

Jeff Miller - Devon Chamber President

On Saturday November 28, Leduc Radio was pleased to broadcast live from Devon at the Alldritt Shopping Mall in conjunction with the Devon & District Chamber of Commerce Christmas Uptown Celebration.

The itinerary was actually quite impressive. Starting shortly after 2pm was a Log Sawing competition sponsored by Drake Insurance Agency. This event flowed into a Nail Driving contest shortly after 3pm, sponsored by Home Hardware. And then at 4pm there was some craziness called a Tea Boiling Competition.

Throughout the afternoon there was Christmas at the library - story telling to children. Maple Syrup Pouring for the family which had the sweet tooth throbbing away sponsored by the Devon IGA. There was also Snow Painting for the Children on a huge snow canvas. This was sponsored by Auntie Rose's Community Day Care & Learn, Love & Laugh Child Care. and then there was a wonderful Kids Christmas Crafting Table where kids could go inside and make Xmas crafts, sponsored by Devon Florists and Gift Shoppe, That Extra Scratch Behind The Ear, and Carmen Goldsmith's Ltd.

From there we had the Christmas Light Up Ceremony with Mayor Anita Fisher and Jeff Millar, President of the Devon Chamber....and then lastly we had the Christmas Light Parade with such notable entries as

The RCMP, Old Red with Santa, Olympic Torch Relay from the Town of Devon, Devon General Hospital,Servus Credit Union, The Nordic Ski Club, Arabesque Rhythmics, George Rogers, Investors Group, Remax, and of course the great folks at the Fire Department....and a few more.

All in all, a great time was had by all, and Leduc Radio was happy to broadcast every minute of it LIVE.
